The Mindset Of An Internet Marketer
July 25, 2008 | Leave a Comment
People have unrealistic expectations. Why do I say that? Tell me if you heard this one. Joe wants to quit his job and become an internet marketer. He goes online, start a business and expect to make fast money. Is internet marketing a Get Rich Quick preposition? We wish! We have seen those wonderful sales letters that says “I made $50,000 in 30 days!” Oftentimes, it makes me reach for my credit card. The reason is I want to be in the position to make $50,000 in 30 days. I know it doesn’t mean that I will do so in 30 days. It doesn’t mean that the author started 30 days ago. Chances are that it took him 2 to 5 years to get to where he is now. I want to know how he did it, so I don’t have to spend the next 5 years figuring it out.
Even if you have an offline business, adding an online marketing channel isn’t going to pay dividends right away. If your offline business isn’t going well, I don’t think an online presence is going to save the day.
It comes down to mindset. People have the wrong mindset; they don’t treat it as a business. Mindset is one of the foundations to success. Regardless of your knowledge or expertise in any given field, your mindset is what determines your success. If you’re going to be in internet marketing, then think like an internet marketer.
Why would someone look for products online? Very often, they have a problem. So, if they can find the solution to their problem, there is a sale to be made. And you don’t make profits if you do not close that sale. So, that brings us neatly to a very simple formula. Your job as an internet marketer is to realize this:
Problems = Product = Profits.
If your prospect falls into the desperate buyer category, and you have a product positioned to solve their problem, what comes next? Profits!

Building Your Product Funnel
July 21, 2008 | 3 Comments
Building your product funnel gives you the opportunity to build rapport with your new customer. When you can maintain contact with your prospect, you can engage them in back-end selling. Your product funnel generally starts with an Entry Level product, such as a special report or a low priced e-book.
When your customer buys from you, they go into your mailing list. This creates a channel for you to build a relationship with your customer that began with the initial purchase of the product or service. You can eveluate the needs of your customers, and promote other products or services that will further benefit your customers.
While you may not make a great deal from the initial sale, back-end selling can increase your profit margins. Once you have demonstrated the value or effectiveness of your initial product, you win the confidence of your customers. By continuing to offer expansion products or enhancements to the existing product, you are providing additional value and benefits to your customers.
Instead of the up-sell, you can also promote additional products or services in a similar price range. This is know as lateral selling. Lateral selling enables you to make your profits in volume distribution.
This is how you can grow your business. Your goal is to increase the number of customers into the product funnel.
1. Thereby increasing your average amount of sale.
2. Having your existing customers buy more often.

Before you start, I recommend you get as much information as you possibly can. If you are new to internet marketing, you need to learn about:
1) What niche you want to be in
You have to chose a niche that interests you, do your research for that niche. The keywords, the search volume, the size of the market, the products & prices. This is your market, and you need to know what’s going on in that market. Stuff like, current trends, the market leaders.
2) The different internet business models
Your business model depends on the nature of your product, your expertise, and on the demands of the market itself. Are you selling a physical product, service, or digital product? How are you going to run your business? These are examples of business models, a membership site, affiliate marketing, on-line store, drop-ship model, and such.
Note: Having a website isn’t the same as having a business model. A website is only part of (a component of) the business model.
3) Where to get products to resell
You need to know where and how to get products you can sell on-line. This depends on the business model you use. If it’s an on-line store, auction model, you can look for a drop-shipper. You just place an order with their company, and they will ship the products to your customers around the world. If you’ll selling digital products, Clickbank.com is a good place to start. You can also create your own products or services.
4) The different marketing methods
Look at how the market leaders or internet top-guns do their business. Learn and emulate them. There are reasons why the particular business is done in a certain way.
5) The type of websites you want
This is the fun part, where you think about how your website will look like, and what goes into it. Then reality sets in and you realise that it isn’t as simple as it is made out to be. There’s a reason why certain widgets, tools and links go unto a website. Sure, anyone can get a website up. But you want a professional looking, fasting loading and functional website. If you cannot build it yourself, you still have a choice of using ready-made templates or out-sourcing. However, You do need to have a clear idea on what you website is to be built for.
6) Website hosting
There is a choice of local web hosting or international web hosting. I don’t think it makes much difference either way. A local web hosting might be cheaper, and international web hosting normally offers larger bandwidth. Just choose one that fits your budget, and has decent storage, bandwidth and customer service. My web hosting has a cpanel, comes with fantastico. So it’s easy for me to install wordpress, shopping cart and anything else I need.
7) The tools you need
Other than web hosting and domain name, you are going to need an auto-responder. You use an auto-responder to collect e-mail addresses from your prospects, manage your lists and send emails to your lists during your marketing campaigns. You might also need a payment processor, again only you can decide
whichever suits your needs. Paypal, 2CheckOut are just 2 of those available. Remember though, you will be charged a certain percentage of your sales, so factor this into your pricing.
Getting traffic to your site
Here is one method, use Googles Adwords which is pay-per-click. You select the keyword in your niche, direct the traffic to your landing page, and your opt-in form. You have to research your niche keyword thoroughly since you will be paying for each click on your ad. Here is another method, you write articles and submit them to EzineArticles, you put your website url in your resource box. If the reader like what he reads, he goes to your website. Having links in high traffic directories can also help you rank better in search engines.
Submit Your Article
July 17, 2008 | Leave a Comment
The reason why internet marketers publish articles is to get traffic. Basically, you write a 400 words article and submit to an article publisher like EzineArticles.com.
Your Goal:
- To get targeted traffic to your website.
- To boast your search engine ranking.
Method:
You use the same method as I outlined in my previous article.
1. You chose a keyword that you want to write about. You want a keyword that readers search for.
2. Write your article. The layout and style of your article should look something like this.
- Title - Your keyword here
- Introduction - 100 words
- Body - 3 to 4 paragraphs, 300 to 400 words
- Summary - 50 words
- Author Bio - Your link to your website
3. When you have finished and check through your article, you submit it to an article directory such as www.EzineArticles.com or www.GoArticles.com. Remember to keep your work original and unique. Do not pass off other people’s work as your own.
This method might take some time for you to reap the benefits. Don’t give up, keep up a steady stream of articles. If you don’t see results, you might also want to change your keyword around. Article marketing works, you just need to get your niche right.
Writing Articles-Part1
July 17, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Article Writing is the method of choice for some people in internet marketing.
A solid article will have the following:
- Title
- Introduction
- 3 to 4 paragraphs of content
- Summary
Before you start, chose your keyword. You want to add your keyword to your title, and include it the body of your article.
Step 1: Choose your title
The thing most people will remember about an article is the title. The words a reader sees in your article title will determine the success of your article. An eye-catching title can generate traffic back to your website.
Your title gets the main point of your article across to the reader. Match your title to the most commonly searched keywords for your topic. You can use a thesaurus and look for substitutes for various words. Spend a little thought and create a catchy title.
Step 2: Your introduction
This is where you introduce your topic to the reader and the main reason for the article. Your introduction should not exceed 100 words.
Step 3: Your content
Your articles should not have unnecessary and repetitive information. Unless you are a writer and you charge by the word. Get to the point; this is an article not a novel. Keep your article easy to read. This will also make your article easy to understand, and get your point across to those reading your work.
For good long-term results, it is important for your article to be unique and original. Pay attention to the tone your article is written. If you are writing in the first person, do not sprinkle sentences written in the third person. This is confusing and will not read well.
You write 300 to 400 words for the body of your article.
Step 4: Write your summary
Your summary should not be long at all. A summary or conclusion just states what has already been written. A good summary is short and to the point. This should not exceed 50 words.
When you have finished, read through your article word for word. You are checking for typos or spelling errors, and make sure it is grammatically correct. Your work will be published and you want to make sure that you get it right.
