Internet Marketing Mix
September 18, 2008 | 1 Comment
The same marketing principles applies to internet marketing. The traditional 4P of marketing - product, price, place and promotion are also used in internet marketing. I think a lot of people who has just ventured into internet marketing do not realize this. The tools and distribution channels are different, as is the advertising media. Execution on the internet happens faster and is more efficient. But the principles remain the same.
Product. As an internet marketer, you need to find your ideal product or service to promote. The products or services should not only convert well, it should be something the internet marketer is passionate about. Remember when you used to have an off-line job? I bet you talked about your work a lot of the time. I enjoyed my work, it’s a passion of mine. We used to discuss the issues of the day for hours, because everyone wanted to be the best. If you enjoy what you do, you will go the distance. You want to see your product or service fulfill a great need your customers have. The product or service that you sell depends on your target market or niche.
Price. As entrepreneurs and businesses become increasingly aware of the effectiveness of internet marketing, competition will increase in many market niches. In terms of pricing, you can either undercut your competition, or you can develop your unique selling proposition and sell at a premium price. Obviously the second option is preferred, because of the profits the internet marketer will make. Having a unique selling proposition is a substantial competitive advantage.
Place. In internet marketing, the place in which you sell your products or services is a website. Your website is your distribution channel. In your off-line business, getting your business noticed is one of your main focus. The same holds true for your website, you need to be able to communicate with your target market effectively. One way to do this is start an Affiliate marketing program. When you do this successfully, you can have hundreds of websites promoting your products for you.
Promotion. Promotion is the activity of getting your products or services noticed. You can use pay per click advertisement or by utilizing search engine optimization. You can also put your links on other people’s website to promote your product. Your advertisement or links can be in text or in banner form. Your offer is made through your sales page, you add incentives and bonuses to entice your visitors to buy from you. To capture your visitors’ contact information, you use an auto-responder. This will enable you to communicate to your prospects for future product promotions. You can also conduct joint venture promotions with other internet marketers or business to explode your sales.
As you can see, internet marketing uses the same marketing mix as you would in your off-line business. The technology you use might be different, but the core competency of execution must still be maintained. Internet marketing does not have to be complicated, you can make it as simple as it suits your business.
Using PLR Content

The best method when you are using PLR content is to re-write it. Read it, absorb it, then rewrite it and inject your own personal style into the article. While you can basically do whatever you like with PLR, the best way is to use it as a good starting point for your article or website content. You want to re-write it, and make it your own.
In the rewriting process, your PLR article will have:
- Title
- Introduction
- Body of content
- Summary
The first thing you must do is to change the title. Change it to one that reads well to human eyes and search engines. Brainstorm a couple of titles, include your keyword in the title and choose the one that fits best. Coming up with your own title is the easiest part. You should use your most commonly searched keyword into your title. All it takes is a little keyword research and thought. Experts say that your title can determine the success of your article. A provocative title can generate more interest and traffic back to your website.
In the body of your article, work your keywords in and keep to the main points. What are the main points in your article? When you are focused on your main points, rewriting a PLR article becomes easy. Furthermore, keeping to your main points allows you to come up with several rewrites which are sufficiently different. You can do a lot more with your articles now.
PLR Content

When you use PLR content, you don’t want to publish it as it is. There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of people with the same content. Publishing as it is will be considered duplicate content by the search engines and will not show up in the search engine results. Hardly what you want, since you want to your article to show up in the search engine search. You should read it first, absorb it, then rewrite it using your own words. This is how you write unique content. You want to use PLR content as a source of information, tweak it and make it your own.
People don’t do this because a) they might have trouble writing or b) don’t know how to do it quickly and effectively. Many people just change the title, add an introduction and a summary. This is known as article wrapping. I suppose if you use as content on your own site, it might be enough. If you don’t really care what search engines think. You certainly can’t do that if you want to submit your article to a article directory, like EzineArticles.com. Not only will your article be rejected, you might be banned from future submissions altogether.
Writing an article from scratch takes time. Normally, you would research a minimum of 3 articles, no more than 5 would be sufficient. It takes time to read and absorb the articles, before you write a completely new article on the topic. Using PLR content, it may only take you a quarter of the time to rewrite it. If you can rewrite 1 article, you can rewrite 5. That is being efficient, and your articles can be considered unique.
The advantage of rewriting your PLR content is you get rewarded in the search engines. Your chances of having more of your content appearing in search engines results increases. You will also have more content for your site, or for submission to article directories. Your readers will probably appreciate your articles more, since they will not have seen it anywhere else.
Choose Your Niche

Internet marketing is a tough market, especially when you are new to this online business. Many find it a bit overwhelming when you first hear all these new terms, and the different components of your website. That’s why I have created this course to help you.
The first thing to remember is that it’s all about the content. You hear internet marketers say all the time “Content is King!” and that’s the truth. But how do you build an awesome niche content site that’s also going to be profitable for you?
First, the niche MUST be one that has demand. This means you must first find one that’s full of hungry, passionate, avid followers who actively follow it and talk about it. That’s exactly the kind of niche you want.
Second, do your keyword research. Keyword research is finding out what people are looking for, so you can give it to them. You can use these free tools to your research, Google’s Keyword Research Tool, or Wordtracker’s free keyword tool. I also use Good Keywords that I have installed on my desktop. The trick is in knowing how people search, in the way they type in the string of words to find what they are looking for. Some words can suggest that people are looking for free information, and others that they are willing to buy.
Remember that you should do your research using just one search engine, so that your umbers are not skewed. You also want to note how much competition there is in your particular niche. You want to see some competition, because if you don’t see any competition it is likely your niche will not be very profitable.
There may already be lots of niche sites on the internet, but yours can still be the best. You start by using a blueprint, work hard to establish it and execute it well. Your goal is to make your site better than the others, or to create your own unique selling proposition.
When you’ve chosen a niche that has demand, the right keywords will determine the amount of traffic to your site. Even if you have established a killer site, if no one comes, it’s not going to mean anything.
